# Exporting data

With Duplify, you can choose the types of data that you want to copy from your source store to your destination stores. This allows you to run full migrations or export only specific parts of your store, depending on your needs.

Before you start, make sure your source and destination stores are connected. Learn more about [Connecting stores](https://support.duplifyapp.com/using-duplify/connecting-stores).

## Selecting content to export

After you connect stores and click **Connect**, you can select from a list of data categories available for export. You can do the following:

* Use the checkboxes to select the data you want to export. The number of each category that's been selected displays next to the category title.
* Product specific:
  * **Store location**: If you have multiple store locations, you can select where each location's inventory maps to in the destination store.
    * You can also **Ignore inventory** if you don't want to export that inventory
* Existing items: Select how to handle any duplicates in the destination store:
  * **Update:** update duplicates with new export data
  * **Create**: create a new copy
  * **Ignore**: skip existing items
* Product specific:
  * **Status:** Set the status for exported products
    * Same as source store
    * Active
    * Draft
* **Metafields:** Toggle metafields off or on.
* **Filters:** Set up filters to be more specific with what you want to export.

## Sync settings (optional)

Duplify can automatically keep your duplicate store up to date with changes from your source store. You can choose which items to update, so you don’t need to run additional exports each time something changes.

**Steps:**

1. In step **3. Sync settings** of your new export, click **Explore sync options**.
2. Beside each category you want to sync, switch the toggle to on.
3. Optional: Under each sync item, check or uncheck the fields that you want to keep updated.

After export, Duplify automatically updates the selected items whenever changes happen in the source store.

You can change this setting at any time. Learn more about [sync settings](https://support.duplifyapp.com/using-duplify/auto-syncing).
